Is there any game right now, or even in the recent past, that you lost alot of hype for prior to release or after its release for some reason or another, whether it was excessive delays, new information that killed it for you, or some other reason?

For me, I can't help but feel some apprehension towards Crackdown 2. It looks to be taking everything that made Crackdown 1 great and, well frankly, fucking it up the ass with an electric razor. The music they've displayed so far is rockabilly country music like Johnny Cash, your Agent is wearing generic armor that looks like the inbred lovechild of Master Chief and rejected Fallout 3 Power Armor concept art, and it seems like they're just going straight for the "mindless fun of blowing shit up" tactic, which is just plain fucked up, since the first game was actually more than a lot of people gave it credit for, in terms of the soundtrack, atmosphere, art style and the subtle feeling of a false sense of identity that you (or at least I) got while playing the game.

Final Fantasy XIII. Because it's not a Role Playing Game anymore. Never at any point of that game did I feel like I assumed the role of somebody. No leveling system besides purchasing skills by using currency, the 'deep' crafting and inventory system is a masked MMO mechanic that's probably a left over for FFXI or a prototype that will be better integrated in FFXIV, hardly any gameplay other than pressing a few buttons during the summons to execute a few attacks ... I don't understand what was so wrong with the battle systems in FF games of the past that this was warranted?

Plus, no shops, no NPC, no cities. Oh, and don't give that 'you're being hunted' shit! You're being hunted in almost every Final Fantasy game since IV! And there were people and shops and villages and side quests and all sorts of weird shit! Square Enix wanted to make a long pointless movie and slapped Final Fantasy on it. I'd rather go play Dragon Quest, Breath of Fire, Lunar or any other jRPG franchise than this, 'cause this isn't Final Fantasy!

I think it died with XI and it might get resurrected with XIV, but I wholeheartedly fucking hope they either: A ) make a proper remake of VII, VI or IV and see what they've been doing wrong, or B ) make a proper game with Final Fantasy XV, whenever that one will be coming.

And that is my rant of the day.

Dead Rising 2. After what I just heard from a friend, I'm now apprehensive. Apparently they removed civilian rescues, the photography, and the game's now all about survival and picking up medicince for your daughter or some shit.

Fucking hell.

Oh, and Crackdown 2 will own, go fuck yourself, son of a bitch!!!!!!!!

Btw, about dead rising 2 , everyone around gt are so excited about it, but seriously is that all ? The numerous way to kill zombies? And?? Huge advertisment about how cool it is! Not for me, i saw a left 4 dead trailer, that was something.

I agree. The mindless killing is insanely fun, but only if it's NOT the only goal/activity. Otherwise you end with a game like State of Emergency.....*shudders*

Not that I recall, no. Just mind numbingly repettive gameplay that I was so sure would be "OMFG AWESOMEZORS" and ended up being trite and derivative after 5 minutes.

On the bright side, you didn't try Conflict: Denied Ops. Though I have to admit, that game was so bad, it was actually funny.

I think you're referring to the original Army of Two. No, Conflict was ... well, check it out yourself.
