Video Reviews. 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I would like to start doing video reviews for the gameronfirevids youtube channel. I was thinking of doing one for Perfect Dark, since it's a popular game. I have a question regarding this, and hopefully someone has a solution. How would I go about getting footage to use for a review? I don't have console recording capabilites here at home. I was wondering if it would be legal to grab some gameplay footage off of the net. If not, perhaps someone here has the ability to record footage?

I could be wrong but i think you can use any video from gametrailers if you give credit to them for the footage.

Many of the GoF Army competitive players use capture cards on gamebattles, so they would easily be able to make footage of any games they own or rent. id be happy to get them in contact with you to help get some things done but i think the first option would be a much better regular method.

Video is going to be a huge part of our future so im really happy to see you doing this. Im working to get a video player on the front page as well as a large video area and hopefully user uploads. Watching a good clip is something everybody loves and i think us getting involved in podcasting and vidcasting is very important to reach our target audience.

Ive seen some of the videos you have made thus far and like i said i think for obvious reasons it gets what you have to say across to people much more effectively.

I really need to get into video editing, its been on my todo list for a long time ive just been to busy.

Okay, I guess my only question is, once I download the video from GT, is there a program I can use to remove the sound? Because to get a nice gaming montage, I think the best videos to donwload would be their video reviews. I would just need to remove their audio so I could substitute it for my own.

Yea i know you can do all this, like i said i need to learn video editing i dont know anything about it.

Check google for resources or ehow for video tutorials. I learn everything on the net, all the information is there you just gotta know how to find it. Ill see if i can find some helpful stuff and post it here, and ill get to work putting a video player on the front page.

Okay, but don't stress yourself out about it. I can easily look it up. If anyone knows off hand though, please do post it

I tried that a while ago.

I bought a camera and everything for it.

But I couldn't capture game footage of the consoles (without adding a dvd recorder into it).
And I already have a dozen machines hooked up to the power sockets in my living room so I couldn't be done (also lacking space for it).

I did get into a little editing with windows movie maker.
One of the reasons were school projects, but I made 3 or 4 video's for fun.
I can capture footage with my pc games (and plan on doing so for at least Heroes of Might and Magic V)
You should check my gametrailers account you can see it.
And I had some of it on my youtube account, but deleted some (new years vandalism that would get me in trouble)
You can cut sound out with movie maker.

I don't know about other programs.
I'm not going to buy any professional tools for something I only use casually.
I'll get into video reviews once I move out of my current home and have the space in my new room to set tv's, consoles and dvd recorders up.
And if I get good at it, maybe I'll buy a professional tool.
